Regular Season Round 19: Granada - Sammic ISB 74-80

The biggest surprise of round 19 was guest Sammic ISB's (13-6) road victory over CB Granada (#5) 80-74 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of CB Granada. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-74. Sammic ISB forced 23 CB Granada turnovers. Strangely CB Granada outrebounded Sammic ISB 44-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Croatian center Aleksandar Marcius (209-90, college: De Paul) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Bernardo Castillo (196-88) produced 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sammic ISB have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Avila and Araberri. Newly promoted CB Granada keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Sammic ISB is looking forward to face Moron (#8) in MorĂ³n de la Frontera in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CB Granada will play on the road against Clinicas Rincon in Malaga and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
