Regular Season Round 23: Roma Luiss - Fondi 104-70

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Fondi (3-20) was outscored on the road by tenth ranked Roma Luiss (11-12) 104-70 on Saturday. Roma Luiss dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Fondi's 42. Roma Luiss forced 23 Fondi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Fondi's players. Center Eugenio Beretta (206-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Leonardo Marcon (189-95) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Roma Luiss players scored in double figures. Roma Luiss' coach Andrea Paccarie felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized San Marino power forward Igor Biordi (200-96) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Antonello Lilliu (182-82) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Fondi. Roma Luiss moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Desio. Loser Fondi keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Roma Luiss will face higher ranked Empoli (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fondi will play against Catanzaro (#9) and hope to win that game.
