Date: February 20, 2016
The game in Santiago was also quite interesting. Second ranked Ciego (14-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Santiago (5-14). Ciego managed to secure a 7-point victory 87-80 on Saturday. Ciego made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Santiago outrebounded Ciego 36-20 including a 21-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international point guard Yasser Rodriguez (187-88) notched 23 points to lead the effort and guard Ricardo Oviedo (193-89) supported him with 23 points and 6 steals. Four Ciego players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds by Eddy Hechevarria (193-86) did not help to save the game for Santiago. Alexis Torres added 16 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Ciego have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Santiago lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Ciego will meet Guantanamo (#4) on the road in the next round. Santiago will play against Pinar (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
