No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Meteors (10-5) beat 7th ranked Liffey Celtics (4-11) in Dublin 67-61 on Saturday. Meteors forced 21 Liffey Celtics turnovers. Strangely Liffey Celtics outrebounded Meteors 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American forward Emily Leer (188-92, college: Villanova) nailed 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Beth Meany (168-90) accounted for 13 points and 4 assists. Aine O'Connor came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) added 21 points respectively for Liffey Celtics in the defeat. Meteors have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with WIT Wildcats. Loser Liffey Celtics keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Meteors will meet league's second-placed TM Hotel Cork on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Liffey Celtics will play against P.Panthers (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
