Regular Season Round 18: MIA Academy - Dinamo Tbilisi 74-79
Date: February 20, 2016
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Dinamo Tbilisi (#2) and MIA (#8). Despite it looked like an easy game for Dinamo Tbilisi, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host MIA challenged much higher ranked Dinamo Tbilisi giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 79-74. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-74. The best player for the winners was international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Canadian guard Juevol Myles (185-89, college: S.Dakota) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Jay-R Strowbridge (183-88, college: Oregon) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 7 points and 14 rebounds respectively. MIA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Dinamo Tbilisi have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Batumi. MIA lost third consecutive game. Defending champion stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Sokhumi.
