Second Stage Round 7: Victoria - Polotsk 78-64

Rather predictable result in Grodno where seventh ranked Victoria (10-15) defeated 9th ranked Polotsk (2-6) 78-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-64. Strangely Polotsk outrebounded Victoria 47-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Victoria made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Palina Zielinskaya (173-98) who led her team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Arina Masko (175-99) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Victoria players scored in double figures. Victoria's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Anna Hatskevich (-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and Aleksandra Ratnikova scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Victoria have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 10-15 record. Polotsk lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Victoria are looking forward to face higher ranked Gorizont II (#6) in Minsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Polotsk will play at home against BrGU COR Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
