Regular Season Round 20: Koroivos - Olympiacos 65-84

A1 top team - Olympiacos (19-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Koroivos (7-13) 84-65. It looked good early as Koroivos took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Olympiacos had a 32-11 second period charge getting the lead and Koroivos was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-84. Olympiacos dominated on the defensive end, holding Koroivos to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Worth to mention a quality performance of Liberian-American power forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: Beo Basket) who added 16 points during the contest. The former international forward Panagiotis Vasilopoulos (202-84) responded with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Darrell Harris (205-84, college: Rhode Island) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olympiacos have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-1 record, which they share with Panathinaikos. Koroivos at the other side keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Lavrio and Trikalla. Olympiacos will play against bottom-ranked Kavala (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Koroivos will play against AGOR (#8) in Rethymno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
