There was no surprise when 15th ranked Battaglia (4-18) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Volpino (8-15) 81-71 on Sunday. Battaglia was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points. The former international swingman Andrea Pilotti (196-80, agency: Players Group) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Volpino players scored in double figures. Power forward Luigi Brunetti (205-88) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Polish center Michal Bialkowski (199-95) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Battaglia. Volpino moved-up to eleventh place in B, which they share with Pavia and Fiorentina. Loser Battaglia keeps the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Volpino will face higher ranked Padova (#10) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
