Regular Season Round 19: UCAM Jairis - Leganes 54-80

The biggest surprise of round 19 was guest Leganes' (13-6) easy road victory over 4th placed UCAM Jairis (12-7) 80-54 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UCAM Jairis. The game without a history. Leganes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to UCAM Jairis' 28. They outrebounded UCAM Jairis 41-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lucia Togores (176-96) fired 11 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Celia Menendez (186-90, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Leganes players scored in double figures. Center Alejandra De La Fuente (193-88) produced 10 points and Serbian Branka Lukovic (190-95) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. UCAM Jairis' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Leganes have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B. UCAM Jairis at the other side dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Leganes are looking forward to face league's leader Alcobendas on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UCAM Jairis will play against IF Air Europa (#8) in S'Arenal and is hoping to win this game.
