Regular Season Round 20: Hapoel J-M - Hapoel T-A 72-67
Date: February 21, 2016
Very expected game when 8th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (9-12) was defeated on the road by first ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (15-5) 72-67 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hapoel Tel-Aviv won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Jerusalem looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) who scored 23 points and 4 assists. The former international Yotam Halperin (194-84) chipped in 10 points. The former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) produced 18 points and American power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-5 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will face bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (#12) in Kiryat Gat in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play on the road against Hapoel Holon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
