Regular Season Round 11: Champville - Moutahed 88-93

There was no surprise in Dik El Mehdi where 9th ranked Champville (1-9) was defeated by sixth ranked Al Moutahed (5-5) 93-88 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Champville won third quarter 29-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Moutahed made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Michael Taylor (186-86, college: Iowa St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) helped adding 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Moutahed players scored in double figures. Al Moutahed's coach Alen Abaz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Georgian power forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili (212-83, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Al Moutahed moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tadamon and Byblos. Champville lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Al Moutahed will meet at home Byblos (#5) in the next round. Champville will play against Sagesse (#7) in Beirut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
