Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rapla (13-8) against eighth ranked Valga (8-12) on Friday night. Visiting Rapla was defeated by Valga in Valga 90-77. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Valga's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-18 extending their advantage to 13 points. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Rapla was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Latvian center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international point guard Valmo Kriisa (190-74) accounted for 20 points and 6 assists. Five Valga players scored in double figures. Dutch center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: E.Carolina) added 24 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Rapla in the defeat. Valga moved-up to seventh place. Rapla at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Valga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rapla will play on the road against Parnu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
