Regular Season Round 19: Kutaisi - Olimpi 94-82

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Kutaisi (11-8) beat at home 6th ranked Olimpi (8-11) 94-82 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Olimpi managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Olimpi 43-21 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kutaisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashaev (188-83) accounted for 12 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeremy Bynum (193-88, college: Jacksonville St.) came up with 30 points and 5 assists and British V.Islands forward Leslie Smith (203-91, college: Nebraska) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Olimpi in the defeat. Kutaisi moved-up to third place, which they share with Sokhumi. Loser Olimpi keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Rustavi. Kutaisi will meet league's second-placed Batumi on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Olimpi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
