Sixth-ranked Sparta (7-15) gave a tough game to second ranked T71 (19-3) in Bertrange on Friday. The visitors from Dudelange managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Sparta trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 20-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-78 at the end of the game. International guard Christopher Jones (186-90) fired 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Denell Stephens (190-86, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Four T71 players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position in League with 19-3 record having just eight point less than leader Residence. Loser Sparta keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. T71 will meet Musel Pikes (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sparta will play against Basket Esch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
