Regular Season Round 24: Fondi - Catanzaro 62-91

Very expected game when 15th ranked Fondi (3-21) was crushed at home by ninth ranked Catanzaro (13-10) 91-62 on Saturday. Catanzaro dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Fondi's 36. Catanzaro forced 21 Fondi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Fehmi Abassi (191-94) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 steals and power forward Giacomo Sereni (202-84) who added 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Catanzaro players scored in double figures. Catanzaro's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Angelo Luzza (197-95) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Joel Myers (183-95) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Catanzaro moved-up to eighth place in B. Loser Fondi keeps the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. Catanzaro will face league's second-placed Napoli Basket at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fondi will play against Scafati Cesarano (#6) and hope to win that game.
