Regular Season Round 20: Oviedo - Arxil Pontev. 82-81

A very interesting game took place in Oviedo. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Arxil Pontevedra (9-11) to thirteenth ranked Oviedo (4-16) 82-81 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Arxil Pontevedra was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 25-22 charge of Oviedo, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Marina Vilella (185-92) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Carolina Ramos (190-93) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Oviedo players scored in double figures. Oviedo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Maria Lago (-92) produced 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and American-Jamaican power forward Yanique Gordon (193-91, college: Cent.Florida) added 22 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Oviedo moved-up to twelfth place in Group A, which they share with Aragon. Arxil Pontevedra lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost.
