Regular Season Round 20: Chantada - Gijon 75-80

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Gijon (4-9) won against on the road 8th ranked Chantada (6-9) 80-75 on Saturday. Chantada trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 25-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-80 at the end of the game. Gijon dominated on the defensive end, holding Chantada to just 7 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Pablo Breton (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds and forward Pablo Diaz (203-86, college: Bethel, TN) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Jacobo De Benito (180-90) responded with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Josep Pacreu (197-78) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Gijon maintains tenth position in Group A-B with 4-9 record. Chantada lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Gijon will face league's second-placed Grupo Inec Z. in Zamora in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
