There was a minor upset when higher ranked Nea Kifisia (9-12) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Apollon Patras (9-12) 73-66 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American forward Tony Meier (204-90, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Tony Woods (211-90, college: Oregon) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Dustin Hogue (198-92, college: Iowa St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Nea Kifisia's coach Ilias Papatheodorou rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Apollon Patras moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Nea Kifisia. Apollon Patras will meet PAOK (#9) in the next round. Nea Kifisia will play against Aris and hope to secure a win.
