Regular Season Round 42: Panteras - Gigantes 84-88

Date: February 27, 2016
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Gigantes (16-22) beat 10th ranked Panteras (12-26) in Aguascalientes 88-84. It looked good early as Panteras took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gigantes took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. They made 25-of-27 charity shots (92.6 percent) during the game, while Panteras only scored seven points from the stripe. International forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Panamanian Levour Warren (196-81, college: S.Carolina) with 25 points and the former international guard Luis Pulido (188-85, college: Cal Poly Pomona) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Jacinto Alvarez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Abejas. Panteras at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 26 games lost. They share it with Santos. Gigantes will play against higher ranked Jefes (#5) in Lagunera in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panteras will play on the road against Ciudad (#11) in Ciudad Juarez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
