Regular Season Round 20: Torrelodones - Alcazar 79-78

A very interesting game took place in . It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Alcazar (12-5) to eighth ranked Torrelodones (7-10) 79-78 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Alcazar. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Alcazar won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torrelodones forced 20 Alcazar turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Torrelodones especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Alcazar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Javier Salson (199-82, college: Bloomfield, agency: Duran International) saved the victory by scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Forward Eduardo Herrero (190-95) contributed with 20 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) for the winners. Torrelodones' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Haitian guard Nick LaGuerre (190, college: St.Mary's, MD, agency: Duran International) replied with 27 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Yago Estevez (204-91) added 18 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Alcazar. Newly promoted Torrelodones maintains eighth position in Group B with 7-10 record. Alcazar at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Torrelodones' next round opponent will be Estudiantes B (#10) in Madrid. Alcazar will play at home against Real Canoe (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
