Regular Season Round 20: Clinicas Rincon - Granada 90-88

A very interesting game took place in Malaga. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked CB Granada (12-8) to tenth ranked Clinicas Rincon (8-11) 90-88 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Clinicas Rincon made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 CB Granada turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by CB Granada helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Brazilian guard Carlos Cobos (193-88) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. DR Congolese center Viny Okouo (215-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Ivan Martinez (192-90) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Clinicas Rincon moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Valladolid. Newly promoted CB Granada keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Clinicas Rincon's next round opponent will be higher ranked Moron (#8) in Morón de la Frontera and it may be quite challenging game. CB Granada will play at home against the league's second-placed Araberri and will have a slim chance for a victory.
