Regular Season Round 21: Viterbo - Empoli 64-70

The biggest surprise of round 21 was guest Empoli's (#6) road victory over Viterbo (#8) 70-64 on Saturday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Empoli outrebounded Viterbo 43-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Francesca Rosellini (176-90) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) who recorded 7 points and 13 rebounds and guard Chiara Flauret (165-95) added 18 points respectively. Newly promoted Empoli maintains sixth place in A2 with 11-10 record. Viterbo at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Empoli are looking forward to face league's leader La Spezia at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Viterbo will play against San Pietro (#3) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
