We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 13th ranked Bolzano (5-16) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Virtus Cagliari (4-18) 61-44 on Saturday. The game without a history. Virtus Cagliari led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bolzano to just 5 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Bolzano 36-12 including a 12-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Silvia Sarni (188-87) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Sabrina Pacilio (176-76) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Virtus Cagliari players scored in double figures. Virtus Cagliari's coach Schirru Epifanio used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Nicole Mora (160-91) who recorded 10 points and 5 rebounds and Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty) added 13 points respectively. Virtus Cagliari maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 4-18 record. Newly promoted Bolzano keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Virtus Cagliari will face higher ranked Vicenza (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
