Second Stage Round 8: Tsmoki-Minsk - Gorizont 75-60

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Minsk: Tsmoki-Minsk (#1) and Gorizont (#2). Tsmoki-Minsk (20-2) won against visiting Gorizont (17-5) 75-60. The game was mostly controlled by Tsmoki-Minsk. Gorizont managed to win fourth quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gorizont 39-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maryna Ivashchanka (190-93) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Lithuanian power forward Giedre Paugaite (193-90) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Tsmoki-Minsk players scored in double figures. Forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (180-87) produced 20 points and 4 steals and international forward Nataliya Trafimava (185-79) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tsmoki-Minsk have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-2 record. Gorizont at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Olimpia.
