Regular Season Round 20: El Olivar - Tarragona 74-75

A very close game took place in Zaragoza between CB Tarragona 2017 and El Olivar. Seventh ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (10-10) got a very close victory on the road over 13th ranked El Olivar (6-14). CB Tarragona 2017 managed to escape with a 1-point win 75-74 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But El Olivar won second period 25-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American forward Orion Outerbridge (206-88, college: Rhode Island) who scored that evening 24 points and 9 rebounds and point guard David Fernandez (179-91) supported him with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Riauka (206-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) did not help to save the game for El Olivar. Czech swingman Simon Pursl (200-97) added 20 points for the hosts. Four El Olivar players scored in double figures. CB Tarragona 2017 maintains seventh position with 10-10 record, which they share with Moron. Newly promoted El Olivar keeps the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. CB Tarragona 2017 will meet at home higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. El Olivar will play against Getafe (#14) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
