Regular Season Round 19: MIA Academy - Batumi 77-74

Important game to mention about took place in Tbilisi. Eighth ranked MIA (4-15) saved a 3-point derby victory at home edging much higher ranked Batumi (12-7) 77-74 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Batumi was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 20-12 charge of MIA, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American point guard Jay-R Strowbridge (183-88, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Koka Tomaradze (197-90) helped adding 20 points. Strowbridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. MIA's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side the former international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Ukrainian forward Igor Krivtsov (201-86) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Defending champion maintains eighth place with 4-15 record. Batumi at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. They share it with Dinamo Tbilisi. MIA will play against higher ranked Energy Invest (#7) in Rustavi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Batumi will play at home against Kutaisi (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
