Eighth-ranked Napoli (7-12) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Venezia (15-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Venezia managed to secure only one-point victory 63-62. However their fans expected much easier game. Napoli was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 18-8 charge of Venezia, which allowed them to win the game. American swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) fired 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Debora Carangelo (167-92) chipped in 14 points and 4 steals. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Lithuanian center Gintare Petronyte (196-89) produced 25 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Cierra Burdick (188-93, college: Tennessee) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Venezia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 15-4 record. Napoli lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Torino. Venezia are looking forward to face league's leader Lucca on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Napoli will play against the league's second-placed Ragusa (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
