There was an upset when higher ranked Argon Uni Girona (13-7) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (8-12) 73-59 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Onintza Aduriz (183-91) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Mali-French center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and American-FYR Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gipuzkoa UPV maintains ninth position with 8-12 record, which they share with Zamarat. Defending champion Argon Uni Girona dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Gipuzkoa UPV will face CREF Hola (#11) in Madrid in the next round. Argon Uni Girona will play on the road against the league's second-placed Conquero (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
