Regular Season Round 24: Piombino - Santarcangelo 84-72

Date: February 28, 2016
There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Piombino (15-9) defeated at home 5th ranked Santarcangelo (15-9) 84-72 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Mario Gigena (198-77) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Mattia Venucci (185-90) who added 20 points and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Alberto Saponi (202-85) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and forward Francesco Bedetti (195-93, agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piombino moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Crema. Piombino will face higher ranked Cento (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Santarcangelo will play against San Miniato and hope to win that game.
