Regular Season Round 19: Orvieto - Lucca 46-66

Leader Lucca delivered the eighteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 11th ranked Orvieto (6-13) 66-46. The game was mostly controlled by Lucca. Orvieto managed to win third quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Orvieto to just 7 points in second quarter. Lucca dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Orvieto's 22. Lucca forced 21 Orvieto turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Kayla Pedersen (193-89, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American-New Zealand guard Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford, agency: Players Group) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. At the losing side Croatian swingman Jelena Ivezic (182-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Lucca. They maintain first place with 18-1 record. Loser Orvieto dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Battipaglia. Lucca will meet at home Venezia (#4) in the next round. Orvieto will play against Torino (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
