Regular Season Round 16: Niki Lefkadas - Aris Petropolis 78-73

Bottom-ranked Aris Petropolis (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-73 loss to fifth ranked Niki Lefkadas (8-8) in Lefkadas on Sunday evening. They also forced 28 Aris Petropolis turnovers and had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Antigoni Chairistanidou (188-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Ariya Crook-Williams (170-93, college: USC) who added 23 points during the contest. Niki Lefkadas' coach Nikos Douvitsas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side point guard Makrinika (173) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and center Christina Petyhaki (186-97) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four Aris Petropolis players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Niki Lefkadas maintains fifth position with 8-8 record, which they share with Athinaikos. Aris Petropolis at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings. Niki Lefkadas will meet league's second-placed Panathinaikos in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aris Petropolis will play against Proteas (#4) in Voula and hopes to get finally their first victory.
