There was an upset in Ariano Irpino where higher ranked Castellammare (10-11) was defeated by eleventh ranked Irpino (8-13) 66-61 on Sunday. Castellammare was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 19-12 charge of Irpino, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Latvian center Ance Celmina (190-91, college: S.Mississippi) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Rosa Cupido (173-92) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian forward Liga Vente (191-91, college: Eckerd) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Barbara Negri (184-86) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Irpino maintains eleventh place in A2 with 8-13 record. Loser Castellammare keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Irpino will face Salerno (#12) on the road in the next round.
