Date: February 28, 2016
The game between Top Four teams took place in Puerto La Cruz. First ranked host Marinos (18-6) defeated their biggest opponent Bucaneros (15-9) 85-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Bucaneros. Marinos players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 14 blocks. The winners were led by American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds and American center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta) supported him with 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Marinos players scored in double figures. Marinos' coach Sergio Valdeolmillos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points and 8 assists by Dominican guard Juan Coronado (193-83) did not help to save the game for Bucaneros. The former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) added 19 points and 6 blocks for lost side. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-6 record. Bucaneros at the other side keep the second place with nine games lost. Marinos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bucaneros will play at home against Guaiqueries and hope to get back on the winning track.
