Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Gran Canaria (14-7) defeated bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa (4-17) in San Sebastian 87-79. Gran Canaria made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Gran Canaria outrebounded Gipuzkoa 31-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. Gipuzkoa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Albert Oliver (187-78) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Canadian guard Kevin Pangos (189-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was point guard Pedro Llompart (185-82) with 18 points and 6 assists and guard Txemi Urtasun (193-84) scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Gran Canaria.
