Regular Season Round 19: Familia Schio - Torino 87-69

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Torino (7-12) was defeated on the road by third ranked Familia Schio (16-3) 87-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Familia Schio. Torino was better in second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Torino 40-26 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. French center Isabelle Yacoubou (190-86, agency: Comsport) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Familia Schio's coach Miguel Mendez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Jenna Smith (191-88, college: Illinois, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas, agency: Two Points) added 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third place with 16-3 record having just nine point less than leader Lucca. Newly promoted Torino dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. Familia Schio will face San Giovanni (#12) in Sesto San Giovanni in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Torino will play at home against Orvieto (#11) and hope to win that game.
