Regular Season Round 12: Al Riyadi - Hoops 78-75

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Pepsi LBL took place in Beirut. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Hoops Club (6-4) to first ranked Al Riyadi (9-1) 78-75 on Monday evening. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-75. Al Riyadi forced 20 Hoops Club turnovers. It was a good game for American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 4 assists. Naturalized Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American forward Tyrone Nelson (206-85, college: N.Mexico St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) added 23 points and 4 steals in the effort for Hoops Club. Defending champion maintains first position with 9-1 record. Hoops Club at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Al Riyadi are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Champville (#9) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hoops Club will play against Tadamon (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
