The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Bnei Hasharon's (12-9) home victory over 6th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (10-11) in Hod Hasharon 101-93 on Monday. Maccabi Ashdod was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 38-27 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aviram Zelkovits (192-89) nailed 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) accounted for 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) came up with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) added 23 points respectively for Maccabi Ashdod in the defeat. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to fourth place. Loser Maccabi Ashdod dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Bnei Hasharon will meet Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi Haifa and hope to secure a win.
