Very expected game in Athens where 10th ranked Lavrio (7-14) was crushed by second ranked Panathinaikos (20-1) 94-56 on Monday. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Lavrio's 38. Panathinaikos had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lavrio's players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Georgios Papagiannis (217-97, college: High School) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Demarius Bolds (193-84, college: Missouri Western) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul) added 16 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Panathinaikos. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Olympiacos. Newly promoted Lavrio keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Trikalla. Panathinaikos will meet Aiolos Trikallon (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lavrio will play against Arkadikos and hope to secure a win.
