An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santa Clara. First ranked Villa Clara faced 3rd placed Ciego. Host Villa Clara (17-7) defeated guests from Avila (14-8) 78-74. Villa Clara forced 19 Ciego turnovers. It was a good game for international center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. The former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) contributed with 29 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. The former international point guard Yasser Rodriguez (187-88) answered with 33 points (!!!) and guard Ricardo Oviedo (193-89) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Ciego. Villa Clara maintains first place with 17-7 record. Ciego lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the third position with eight games lost. Villa Clara will again play against Ciego (#3) in Avila in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ciego will have a break next round.
