Regular Season Round 28: Villa Clara - Ciego de Avila 94-90

An interesting game for Villa Clara (18-7) which hosted in Santa Clara 3rd ranked Ciego (14-9). First ranked Villa Clara managed to get a 4-point victory 94-90. Villa Clara dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Ciego's 44. Villa Clara forced 20 Ciego turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) who helped to win the game recording 41 points (!!!) and 6 steals and guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) who added 26 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international point guard Yasser Rodriguez (187-88) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 4 steals and guard Ricardo Oviedo (193-89) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Villa Clara maintains first position with 18-7 record. Ciego lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the third place with nine games lost.
