SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (21-2) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Peli-Karhut (6-15) 84-48. The game without a history. Catz Lappeenranta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Peli-Karhut's 32. They outrebounded Peli-Karhut 52-35 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Chandra Harris (185-89, college: Georgia St.) notched 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Russian forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) supported her with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Akil Simpson (183, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Peli-Karhut. Swingman Roosa Lehtoranta (176-97) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-2 record. Loser Peli-Karhut dropped to the seventh place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Espoo Team. Catz Lappeenranta will meet at home Espoo Team (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Peli-Karhut will play against the league's second-placed ViVe in Vimpeli and hope to secure a win.
