Regular Season Round 43: Abejas - Pioneros 87-85

The most exciting game of round 43 in the LNBP took place in Guanajuato. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Pioneros (34-5) to sixth ranked Abejas (17-22) 87-85 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Pioneros. Abejas made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). The former international forward Michael Lizarraga (200-89, college: CS Northridge) helped adding 28 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) scored 23 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Abejas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Gigantes. Pioneros at the other side keep the second position with five games lost. Abejas is again looking forward to face league's second-placed Pioneros in Cancun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneros will have a break next round.
