LPB top team - Marinos (19-7) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Gigantes (7-15) in Puerto Ordaz 76-68. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 26-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. American point guard Dion Dixon (190-89, college: Cincinnati) scored 17 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Puerto Rican guard Raul Orta (196-85) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. Marinos' coach Sergio Valdeolmillos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Harold Cazorla (175-91) with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-7 record. Gigantes at the other side keep the ninth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Toros. Marinos will play against bottom-ranked Toros (#10) in Maracay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gigantes will play on the road against Panteras in Caracas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
