Regular Season Round 24: Melilla - Cocinas.com 85-93

The most important game in the last round took place in Melilla between second ranked Melilla Baloncesto (16-8) and thirteenth ranked Cocinas.com (10-14) on Friday night. Melilla Baloncesto was defeated by Cocinas.com in a tough game at home 85-93. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Melilla Baloncesto won second period 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cocinas.com made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American-French guard Alfredo Ott (190-83, college: Dillard) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Borja Arevalo (195-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Arevalo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Cocinas.com players scored in double figures. Point guard Josep Franch (193-91) replied with 23 points and 4 assists and center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) added 20 points in the effort for Melilla Baloncesto. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cocinas.com have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Ourense. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Cocinas.com is looking forward to face higher ranked Leyma Basquet (#6) in Coruna in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Melilla Baloncesto will play on the road against Oviedo CB (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
