Second Stage Round 6: Livani - VEF skola 70-66

An interesting game took place in Livani where 6th ranked VEF skola (7-7) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Livani (5-10) 70-66 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-66. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Livani made 8 blocks. VEF skola was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Eduards Viksna (198-93) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and forward Emils Surums (196-93) chipped in 24 points during the contest. Four Livani players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Nikolajs Zotovs (182-98) with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Rihards Berzins (205-97) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Livani maintains ninth position with 5-10 record. Loser VEF skola keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Livani will face higher ranked Marupe (#7) in Riga in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
