Regular Season Round 24: Lulea Basket - Sallen 76-83

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Lulea Basket (21-3) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Sallen (18-6) 83-76. Lulea Basket was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for American swingman Christy Bacon (182-80, college: Wyoming) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import guard Tiffany Brown (165-86, college: Georgia South) contributed with 20 points for the winners. The former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Belgian point guard Julie Vanloo (172-93) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lulea Basket. Four Sallen and five Lulea Basket players scored in double figures. Sallen have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 18-6 record having just three points less than leader Lulea Basket. Defending champion Lulea Basket still keeps top place with three games lost. Sallen are looking forward to face Visby Ladies (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Lulea Basket will play against Alvik Basket (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
