Regular Season Round 24: Palma - Castello 80-73

Date: March 5, 2016
There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Palma (12-12) beat 8th ranked Castello (12-12) in S'Arenal 80-73 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-19. But Castello won second period 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palma looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Castello's players. It was a good game for the former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (207-76, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Jorge Romero (192-90, agency: Duran International) contributed with 8 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Palma players scored in double figures. American forward Brandon Garrett (206-90, college: Murray St., agency: Duran International) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Joan Faner (176-90) added 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Castello. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Palma moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Castello. Palma will face higher ranked Lobe Huesca (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
