Regular Season Round 21: Aros Leon - Ensino 80-51

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Maquinaria Ensino's (10-11) road loss to sixth ranked Aros Leon (13-8) 51-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aros Leon. Maquinaria Ensino was better in second period 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Maquinaria Ensino 37-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aros Leon made 8 blocks. American power forward Aulani Sinclair (186-90, college: Indiana) stepped up and scored 30 points for the winners and her fellow American import forward Victoria Dunlap (185-89, college: Kentucky) chipped in 25 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Marta Lema (186-92) with 19 points and guard Tamara Montero (168-94) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aros Leon maintains sixth place in Group A with 13-8 record. Maquinaria Ensino lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Aros Leon will face higher ranked Adareva (#4) in SC Laguna in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maquinaria Ensino will play at home against Aragon and hope to win that game.
