There was a small surprise in Mogi das Cruzes where sixth ranked Mogi (16-7) edged 6th ranked Brasilia (16-8) 78-75 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Mogi's coach Danilo Padovani used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and center Ronald Reis (211-91) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Mogi have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Paulistano. Defending champion Brasilia keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Mogi will face Paulistano (#4) in Sao Paolo in the next round. Brasilia will play on the road against the league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and hope to win that game.
