Regular Season Round 25: St Vallier - Quimper 96-104

Saint Vallier (#5) was upset in Saint Vallier by eighth ranked Quimper UJAP 104-96. It looked good early as Saint Vallier took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Quimper UJAP had a 25-16 second period charge getting the lead and Saint Vallier was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 96-104. Quimper UJAP players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Saint Vallier was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) nailed 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and forward Mathieu Tensorer (198-83) accounted for 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Jesse Delhomme (189-85) came up with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and Jonathan Hoyaux (196-88) added 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for Saint Vallier in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Quimper UJAP maintains eighth place with 13-12 record. Saint Vallier lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Caen. Quimper UJAP will play against higher ranked Caen (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saint Vallier will play against the league's second-placed Lourdes-Tarbes having rather not much hope for a victory.
